And I’m scared, but in the best way imaginable; you know, like when you were a kid standing on the five metre platform at a pool for the first time, trying to ignore your logical fear and gather enough courage to step off the edge and plummet into the water.
I’m starting a company with some friends and former colleagues, to develop and deliver awesome software as well as developing our own in-house products. I have had a business before, with Troels, where I learned a lot, but it was never a full time thing, since we were both working full time jobs at other companies. It did give me a lot of knowledge and experience about running a company, keeping the books in order, reporting and paying taxes on time, etc.
I gave my notice to my current employer in April, and with one months notice it’s full speed ahead at the beginning of June. The main reasons for doing this at this particular point in time are simply that I’d regret not doing it and coupled with the fact that this is the best possible time in my life for it. No children and no overly expensive habits means I’ll survive even if there’s dry spells in the income.
I’ve always been inspired by reading other peoples experience with creating and developing companies and products, including but not limited to, the articles on Amino (Danish), kreci.net, HN (Show HN), etc. I hope that someday someone will find my ramblings useful as well, if not, I hope it will help me to write down thoughts and experiences.
